This qualifies as a Sunday in The Canyon because we have been battling the traffic surrounding the Kodak Theater for five days now. The streets surrounding it will stay closed through Tuesday.
Now you tell me, for people who professionally construct and take down sets, concert stages, and the like, why does it take DAYS to set up and take down? This is something I don't understand.
I live-tweeted the Oscars tonight in my sweatpants, in my bed, with my daughter and husband beside me. We had chocolate chip cookies for dinner. You can see the stream here. My fingers are sore! But it was more fun to experience the Academy Awards with several hundred twitter friends than I could have imagined.
But lets get down to brass tacks.
My favorite looks from the night:First, two that might not be popular:
Diane Kruger's dress has it all: drama, ruffles, a halter neckline. I'm going to guess it might not make the top lists. But I'm committed to listing those that made me sigh. And this did. Rachel looks young and fresh and like she just stepped right out of a painting.
Next, my age appropriate picks:
I believe it is a rare woman who doesn't look good in red. It's a power color. Sigourney's dress hung perfectly and she looked great.
I am a big fan of Amanda Seyfried. I almost fell off the bed when she dropped the bombshell on the red carpet that she was leaving Big Love. At least, it was a bombshell to me. I love her dress here. I feel like it's a fairytale. If I were going to the Oscars, I would want to wear a dress like this. But I probably wouldn't have the nerve.
My two favorite looks from the night were a real surprise, at least to me:
I can't believe how much I loved Kristen Stewart's dress. The sweetheart neckline, the detail on the torso (that's hard to see in the picture), it really was perfection. And I don't usually like the black dresses.
It really was Sandy's night, wasn't it? I liked her dress on the red carpet, but as the night wore on I liked it more and more and more. Her red lips were fantastic, of course, and I was blinded by the shiny-ness of her hair. (Do you think she would do a lazy beauty post on that hair? Gorgeous.)
She looked glamorous. Befitting of a winner.
Did you watch? Who were your favorites?
