I saw the most fabulous sequined sweatshirt in the window at J.Crew. It is everything that I'm feeling right now: sweat-comfy with a little glitter. Really, that's how I feel all the time. I am the queen of an old t-shirt worn with chunky costume jewelry.
But when I cruised into the store to pick up this sure thing, my hand almost burned off at the $150 price tag. I've been known to splurge a time or two, but $150 for a sweatshirt that has to be dry-cleaned is beyond my reach.
Inspired, I opted to use what I already had in my closet to create the same look.
ratty Levi 501's: check
plain, thin, heather gray sweatshirt from (yep!) J.Crew last year: check
slouchy suede gray sandals I wear almost everyday: check
dainty gold hoops and chunky man watch: check
oversized bib necklace from Anthropologie's clearance rack last fall: check
Okay, it's not exactly the same thing. But sort of. A lot of sparkle on top of a sweatshirt.
It's easier than you think to cheat a look you like. Copycatting fashion is the best way to learn your true style.
I encourage true style.
