We had the most unexpectedly great weekend. Those are the best kind, right? When they sneak up on you.
Date night massages & dinner.
The big reveal of The Gorilla's birthday present. I bought this sucker in June (and I'm never early or prepared for anything, so this was huge) and have been sitting on my hands waiting for him to see it. It's several weeks early, but I wanted it to be here before a whole slew of houseguests arrived this weekend.
I will only give you this hint:
Saturday we bonded over tile samples for the master bedroom remodel that we've decided to go ahead and start because why wouldn't we? It's not as if this will set us back in new house progress AT ALL.
I think we made our final decision. I will brace for demolition.
Saturday night we went to a fun and memorable birthday celebration and we both agreed that it was one of the best social evenings we've had in a while. We're happy to report that neither of us ended up among those in their underwear in the pool. Good friends, good times.
It was nice to have another weekend of family time together, since our weeks have been so full.
On Tuesday, Pigtail and I will leave for a week back in my homeland for a wedding while The Gorilla hosts a large group here in L.A. We're both looking forward to the festivities.

I talked to my mom briefly on Friday afternoon. She mentioned the self-portraits I posted on my Friday Links.
"You looked so old," she said, and not in a complimentary way.
"Old?' I replied. "I guess I did have on pearls."
"Well, I just thought you looked old. You looked just like me when I was thirty."
"I'm thirty-one, mom."
"I know. Old."
