It's almost Memorial Day weekend! This means that no matter where you are in America, no matter what your thermometer says, it's officially summer! And even though I live in the land of so-called "perfect weather," summer still makes me happy.
Since my body will be gaining upwards of thirty pounds in strange places over the next few months, I can't exactly purchase a fun new summer wardrobe. Instead of buying sassy high-waisted shorts, I'm appeasing myself with shoes.
Specifically, the hottest shoes I've found lately, pictured above. I bought these instead of a new dress for my Vegas girls trip. They're Mea Shadow and I purchased them from Zappos after I found them at Nordstroms and they didn't have my size.
The wedge means that they're more comfortable than your average heel, and I can dress them up with a maxi or down with jean shorts. Both of which I've done.
But for my daily wear, my chasing-a-toddler wear, I need something more sensible. I found these at Tory Burch and they have changed my toes life.
Now, I'm a big believer in You Get What You Pay For, especially in terms of shoes. This is not to say that I won't rock a pair of Payless, but I also don't expect them to hold up or be particularly comfortable. Ballet flats, especially, tend to give me the most fits in terms of blisters or sore soles.
The Tory Burch Eddie Ballet flats are like molded playdoh to your foot AND they have a super-cushiony sole. They look like they would be too flat for long wear, but I promise you they're like pillows in there. Mine are the matte gray and I've been wearing them daily for weeks now. I have a friend who has the patent ones and she said that after awhile the patent began to chip, so just an FYI if you look at these seriously.
What's on your feet now that the sidewalk is warm? Are you strictly flip-flops in the summer? Or better, barefoot?
(psssst - make sure you check back tomorrow because there is going to be a fun giveaway for your own daily summer wardrobe!)
