When we got home from the lake last week, we found that our outdoor furniture had revolted while we were gone.
It was fairly inexpensive furniture in the first place (read: not top quality) but it lasted us a good three years in the elements. We had been thinking about replacing it anyway, and this really sealed the decision.
I wanted to have a few people over on Saturday night to catch up and welcome ourselves back to the West, but our plans were primarily outside. For a moment I was worried about what people would think, and worried that they would snag their clothes, and worried that "busted plastic wicker" didn't go with my flowers-in-mason-jars theme.
But I got over it and not one single guest said a word. Perhaps I just have very polite friends. Or more likely people don't notice or care about every imperfection of your home, outfit, or hosting.
People like to get together and make memories. Don't come up with reasons not to.
