**UPDATE** winner is announced at the end of this post. Thanks everyone for participating!
At least once a year I have the same paper argument with myself:
In the world of internet overshare are Christmas cards and birth announcements redundant?
I mean, Christmas cards are a major pain.
And then, every year, I decide that I want to do them anyway. It's my love of paper, mostly, and my love of the keepsake. I still haven't decided if we're going to do Christmas cards this year (the time! the effort! the expense! the time!), but I thought I would regret it if I didn't do some sort of birth announcement for Pirate.
For Pigtail, born at the same time of year, I had a small and simple design printed at Aardvark Letterpress and included it with a picture in our Christmas card that year. For Pirate I wanted to something different.
I scoured the net for inspiration and ideas. In the end, The Gorilla, with his master photoshop skills, put together something simple that we both liked. It's a classic photocard with the baby's stats printed right on it. Less pieces and more graphic than how we approached it with Pigtail. Now if I can just summon the energy to address the envelopes and purchase stamps.
Paper Culture, one of my favorite paper sites, is always one of my first stops when I'm printing anything. Here are some of the birth announcements from Paper Culture that caught my eye:
And of course while I was there I had to check out the holiday card selection. Some great selections:
For you fellow paper lovers, today I have a $50 gift certificate to Paper Culture to give away. Good for any of their fabulous designs: holiday cards, announcements, even personal stationary.
To enter: Leave a comment on this post telling me if you do any sort of personal holiday card or birth announcement or if you leave that sort of thing up to the world wide web. And where do you draw the line? All paper all the time, or formal snail mail cards only for big occasions?
IMPORTANT: The gift certificate expires on November 15, so please only enter if you're able to use it by then. Because of this short turnaround, this will be a quickie. Giveaway ends midnight EST, Wednesday, November 2. I'll send the winner the voucher code Wednesday evening, giving you two weeks to redeem it.
Good luck!
And the winner is...
