My friend Andrea from Savvy Sassy Moms invited me to join her with Bethany and Krista for the Alice + Olivia Holiday party and fashion show to benefit Jessica Seinfeld's Baby Buggy charity. It was last minute on a rainy Monday evening, but it turned out to be one of the best girls nights I've had in a long time.
We watched all the pretty people, ate garlic fries and tweeted, then dismissed to Chin Chin to stuff ourselves full of spicy Chinese food. We talked about bloggy stuff, and relationships, and I laughed until I cried. This is such a wonderful time of year.

I've had multiple HH email subscribers tell me that they've stopped receiving the emails when I post. I know it's not happening to everyone, but if it is happening to you, please let me know. I'm trying to take care of it as best I can.

The response to my offer to guest post on your blog was more than I could have ever imagined. Your questions and prompts blessed me tremendously. If you haven't received a reply from me yet, hang tight. I'm still working through the emails, but know that I've read each and every one and I'm so excited for this little project. Thank you for working with me on this!
Speaking of guest posts, I'm over at Julianna Morlet's blog today talking about my family's very strange holiday tradition.

For your weekend reading pleasure:
I shot in manual mode with my Nikon for the very first time this week. I've been too scared to give it a try, but once I did, I was giddy. And it wasn't as hard as I thought! It's definitely one of those things that you just have to plunge in and do to understand. Not that I understand it. Anyway, here's 13 Things Your Camera Wish You Knew. (Improve Photography)
I love a good theme. These invitations really did it for me. (Oh So Beautiful Paper)
We watched Young Adult and I started listening to the new Steve Jobs biography. I identified a little too much with some of the themes of Young Adult and I'm already hooked on the Steve Jobs story.
If you're in Los Angeles, you definitely need to check out Sally Horchow's Ten Signature Secrets to Party Throwing. I've bookmarked it for the future, but was especially pleased that she listed Aardvark Letterpress. I sang their praises here. (List Collective)
When you first click on a blog, you either connect with it right away or you don't. Maybe you share an opinion or a location or a faith. Maybe you recognize their voice in some way. Or maybe you come from the same state, and you like their pretty pictures. That was me with Oklahoma-based Jeremy & Kathleen.
I was so sad to hear about the death of Christopher Hitchens. He has been my favorite part of Vanity Fair for years. With just a few weeks left, 2011 continues to be odd. A reader sent me this. It gave me chills. It's still surreal to see our friend Ryan honored among all these other huge events of the year. Zeitgeist 2011: Year In Review.
