Today this blog is two years old. It's mostly flown by, the evening The Gorilla and I sat on the couch brainstorming ideas for my little space on the internet seems like a million years ago.
Being pregnant or having a newborn in 2011 kept me from the full realization of all my HH ideas, and I'm excited to start the next year of this blog with all kinds of inspiration. Still, lots of good stuff happened around here in the last year.
My favorite posts were:
In 2011, I told you:
How to make Spicy Chinese Noodles
I talked A LOT about documenting your life. I compared iPhoto books vs. Blurb books and did an experiment on where to print your pictures. I showed you how I organize my digital photos, and my Week In The Life book.
Lastly, I told you about my new mantra.
Nothing makes you see the gaps and holes like a year-in-review post! I can see clearly that my posts about the entertainment industry dropped off significantly in 2011, so I want to make a return to those. I can also see that I stopped writing the more personal posts in about the early fall. This is partly because I was so big pregnant, or post-delivery, and those things take more emotional energy to write than I possessed at the time.
It's also because I went into a survival mode towards the end of the year, finally unable to take the roller coaster we'd been on for the last six months following family loss and disease. But really, those are the most important posts I write. I need to force them out of myself more often. Isn't January just full of fresh starts?
Thanks for reading, my HH friends. You make this project of mine so worthwhile, so fun. Obviously, it just wouldn't be the same without you. Cheers to another year of internet community!
ps - In November I ran a little informal reader survey and out of that came numerous post ideas that I hope to tackle in 2012. Please know that as readers, suggestions, prompts, and questions are always welcome. xoxo, HH.
