On Fridays I link to the things I'm reading around the internet, so you can catch a glimpse into my online world. But last week a sweet HH reader, new to twitter, emailed to ask who my favorite folks were to follow on twitter.
Well, that's a whole different answer. While I do follow the twitter feeds of most of the blogs I read, it seems like twitter is a whole different universe. I don't read the blogs of many of my favorite people on twitter, and I don't think they read mine. Twitter is a world unto itself. I explain why I love twitter so much here.
Here's a list of some of the people I rarely miss on twitter. Be advised that my tastes may not be the same as yours. This is my sweet way of saying that there is quite a bit of vulgarity in my stream.
In no particular order:
She's in LA, she's very opinionated, her husband is in the entertainment industry. Who does that sound like to you? Okay, we may not always agree, but her tweets manage to be both snarky and informative.
She's funny, and I frequently learn bloggy stuff from her. Both of these things are a win for me.
He's funny. And usually in LA. And his instagrams are the best ever.
She's funny, opinionated, and in NYC. She was one of the first people I followed on twitter.
She does a great job of mixing personal tweets in with current events and news. I like this in a tweeter.
I do read Rachel's blog regularly, but her twitter stream has different topics. She frequently asks questions of her followers, which is one of my favorite things about twitter.
I started following Matthew years ago, and he was my gateway into a whole new genre of Christians on the internet. Then I became online friends with his wife, now we're all friends in real life. Thank you, twitter.
I found Laura through my friend Shauna Niequist, and Laura also tweets the red carpet events. Plus she's funny. Thus, I like.
Now that I think about it, Jon Acuff was really my gateway to a new kind of faithful, since I found @JesusNeedsNewPR through him. Bygones.
Everyone I know follows him, so.... He's also funny.
Lives in California, very opinionated. Who is seeing a trend here? We don't agree on a lot of things, but her stream always makes me think.
He's in California, and he's funny. I'm going to have to come up with better descriptions.
She's a tv writer, and she tweets frequently about the entertainment industry. I like this.
Obviously we're friends in real life. BUT. She's great on twitter. In fact, we met on twitter. Fashion, style, life.
I have no idea how we came across each other, but Angie and I are twitter buddies. I love twitter for this very reason.
He tweets about tv. Clearly. But I get good entertainment tidbits from his stream.
Franklin Avenue is my neighborhood, and a prominent street in Hollywood. He tweets a lot of neighborhood and entertainment stuff.
I've been following Diana for a long time, and always found her interesting, but now I've found out that she has an online writing group. Even better!
My own personal rules dictate that I cannot abide by politics on facebook, but I'm fine with it on twitter. I'm an enigma. Emily is my favorite person to follow who tweets politically.
This is by no means comprehensive, I could go on and on. I mean, @JudyBlume is on twitter. And @AnneLamott. But I thought I'd introduce you to some of the people I read daily that I probably don't link to much.
Who is your favorite person to follow on twitter? Leave their twitter handle in the comments. Or your own!
