Happy Good Friday!
We went to see The Dan Band last weekend with friends. If you haven't seen them, you must get a group together and go. You will laugh until you cry, and then you'll keep laughing. And when I was looking him up tonight and I just realized that he's married to the actress Kathy Najimy of Sister Act fame. What a hilarious couple! I bet they're fun to have dinner with.
We also had a date day this week, and finally got a chance to see The Hunger Games. We talked about it for an hour afterward. I feel like it was a great representation of the book.
But I noticed at the KCAs that all the kids had crazy colored hair and outfits. There's my own pink hair. And while browsing in the MAC makeup store, I saw that these bright body paints were featured. And I couldn't help but wonder...are already part of the Capitol?

I made a few new recipes this week:
This sour cream and bacon crockpot chicken was a big fail. The texture of the chicken was just weird and mushy. I think if I had browned the chicken first, and made the bacon a little crispier, it might have been okay. But I don't think I'll try this one again.
These walnut-crusted pork chops were delicious and so easy. I had to make a few tiny tweaks in order to use what I had on hand, but I will be making this one again.
This General Tso's chicken was first a fail, and then a success. The first batch stuck like glue to the frying pan. So for the second batch I used a non-stick pan (not what I usually fry in) and everything went much better. The sauce was so delicious! And the best part was that I had everything on hand except for the chili sauce (I improvised), so I can see myself throwing this one together when I don't know what else to fix.
I'm trying to cook more in general, but my big industrial range is just barely limping along. We need a new one so badly, and we're hoping to get started on our kitchen cosmetic changes soon. Fingers crossed!

Do you have plans for Easter? We'll be staying here in LA, and it's the first time in years that I'm not in Oklahoma. I plan to dye my own eggs and try really hard not to be homesick. I'll be headed to the heartland soon enough for the Spirit-Led Parenting book release party.
I hope you all have a great holiday, or if you don't celebrate Easter, a relaxing few days.
