This one came about because I simply don't have time to deal with eye makeup on a regular basis. As much as I love my Urban Decay Naked Palette, I don't have the patience to layer and blend every morning. What I need is a swipe of sparkly color that makes my blue eyes look like I tried.
Today's matchup is between Make Up Forever Aqua Cream in #13 Champagne Shimmer ($23) and MAC Paint Pot Chilled On Ice ($20).
I am newly obsessed with Make Up For Ever's products. Everything I've tried from their line has been great. And MAC is an old standby for me. If I'm looking for something I know will work, MAC always has it.
Both of these colors are sparkly champagne-y. This is a neutral, flattering on most skin tones and looks "done" but not boring.
First things first, the MAC packaging is far superior. It's made of glass and I can easily use my finger. The Make Up Forever packaging is plastic and I can't get my finger in there easily. The eye shadow gets under my fingernail, which is annoying. So even though I used my finger for this experiment (that sounds dirtier than I was intending), the Make Up For Ever works better with a brush.
This is immediately after application. The color is stronger in person, but not by much. If you're thinking my skin looks especially smooth here, it's because of photoshop.
Is my skin looking slightly less radiant? Don't tell me.
This was at the very end of day, about the time I thought, "Crap. I have to document my face for this stupid eye shadow experiment."
(Did you think I wasn't going to make that joke?)
