I cheated, you guys. I totally cheated on the SECOND TO LAST DAY of the No Shopping Challenge. No sooner had I posted the end-of-the-month update yesterday than I succombed to a Gilt sale. Crap. I felt bad about it, even though I had my reasons. And I thought about not telling anyone. But it would harder for me to live with lying than live with cheating. Obviously I'm full of integrity.
But then I chopped my hair off, so I forgot about the cheating anyway.
I've experimented more with my hair in the last few years than I have at any other time in my life. I'm cool with it, though. And losing the long dead ends of my boring style feels good right now. I need everything in my life to be lighter. Including my hair.
But about the monthly challenges...this is going to be a harder year than I expected. And we're just getting started.
Don't forget that this weekend is the Super Bowl! If you subscribe to the Secret Posts, you already know that The Gorilla directed the Bud Light commercial this year (one of the most talked about already), so we'll be cheering on this very funny (and highly unusual) campaign.
The HH facebook page was a hot little place to be this week. This thing about adding "with a chainsaw" to whatever book you're reading made me laugh 'til I cried. And I showed off my favorite Grammy dress. And I linked out to a post by Sarah Bessey that connected with everyone and their mother (literally). And - this was big - we had an enlightening conversation about Ranch dressing. Taste-test post forthcoming.
Also on the facebook page we talked a bit about Pinterest. After stepping away for nearly a year, I waded back in this week. For awhile, I just didn't like where Pinterest was going. There was WAY too many pro-eating disorder pins and boards, and the same recipes over and over. There seems to be less of that now (or maybe I've just unfollowed a lot) and I've spent just a little bit of time this week getting re-acquainted and curating a few of my own boards. If you're a Pinterest user, follow me here.
On Instagram, I posted a really common (for me) Outfit of the Day and also debuted the haircut. Lastly, my post schedule got a little wonky this week and the email subscribers didn't get my post about fulfillment, where I found the comments to be really interesting.

What's extra strange about this post is that my hair and Arnold's hair are NOT ALL THAT DIFFERENT.
