Every year on the blogiversary, I do a little recap of the year in HH blogging (see last year's here). Thank you for bearing with this self-indulgence. This blog marks time for me like nothing else.
In my head, I've been blogging for a long, long time. But comparitively, 4 years isn't that long. Most of my blog friends have been at it for longer and I feel like a blog baby in the emotions and angst and delight that this little space on the internet gives me.
For the most part, I've churned out posts here really consistently for four years, and I feel like I'm just now finding myself in it. But I think I thought that at the two year mark, too. Blogging and writing, it's a never ending journey.
For the first half of the year, HH looked like the top picture, then after awhile it looked like the second picture. Now it looks even different than those two. I get more bored with design than I used to. I'd like to think it's just easier for me to change now that I know better what I'm doing (I do all my own blog design). Really it probably just reflects some general restlessness.
But now for some facts.
On HH in 2013:
Over 226,000 unique visitors with just shy of 1 million pageviews.
Top Traffic Referrers in order (not counting social media channels):
Most popular posts in order (according to page views):
Emily is a 2013 Boston Marathon runner with a medal (guest post)
My Personal Favorite Posts:
Stuff y'all loved (according to comments and shares):
Things that happened:
#OneDayHH garnered nearly 9,000 photos on Instagram. (What a fun project that was.)
I co-hosted the Jesus Feminist book release party
What a year! I knew a lot had happened, but to see it all in writing....documenting a life is such a benefit to writing and sharing. I highly encourage everyone to start a blog if they're so inclined, or scrapbook or journal or whatever makes the most sense to you. I love sharing our life through this blog, and the reasons are almost entirely selfish. It's creative, it's a discipline, it's brought me wonderful friends and opportunities, but most importantly it is a record.
Thanks for doing this with me.
