By now, surely you've noticed that Birkenstocks are full-swing back in style. And since I never hesitate to toot my own horn, I'd like to point out that I first waxed poetic about my love for the hippie delights almost two years ago. (If you can count being excited about a shoe that people have been wearing since Jesus days, then I am a true trendsetter.)
I bought my first pair of Birkenstocks before I went to Sri Lanka, because I needed something comfortable and durable and light for walking. Now I have three pair - including the black patent and these hideous things - and my Zappos cart aches for just one more. (In my defense on the ugly clogs, called Boston High Arch, they are specifically for high arches. I now wear them around the house more than slippers or flip flops or anything else. My feet sing in them, but they are truly for people with high arches and will hurt otherwise.)
The most basic, and in my opinion the best looking, are these matte black Gizeh Birko-flor. I don't have those.
