The first time Katie hosted our book club in her Silverlake home, I was in awe of its beautiful views, it's quirky character, and the obvious style she and her husband Eric put into it.
The most recent time I arrived for our Saturday morning meeting, I just couldn't get over what a thoughtful and layered home they had created.
Layered is really the perfect term. In all of my life I could never put together rooms as multi-faceted as Katie and Eric have.
I love the tile floors in the kitchen and the built-in breakfast nook. (See the little cat door in the booth? Clever, huh?)
Most of their home is decorated with things found at flea markets and antique stores, and Katie and I talked about the patience it requires to make a space come into its own. I love the light fixture they created about the bed, and the bold rug.
I'm such a huge fan of wallpaper, and they've used it effectively in the dining room and the hallway.
I'm jealous of their innate ability to throw all the things together in a room and have it come out looking so cohesive, so natural.
It certainly is a fine place to spend hours and hours talking about books.
