We've talked a little bit about WHEN we read, but personally I want to know HOW you read. I'm having a bit of a logistical reading crisis.
Lately I've been reading some great things - mostly non-fiction is what has been rocking my boat, my favorites of the year so far have been She Matters by Susanna Sonnenberg, Bread & Wine by Shauna Niequist, and Carry On, Warrior by Glennon Melton. All of these are new titles, all I've read in actual book form, and all are hardback. I've loved them, so I'm glad I have these hardcovers, but it hasn't been exactly convenient. I can't read them on the go. With all the new fangled ways to take in the written word, should I be taking advantage of them?
I have an original iPad, so it's a little over 3 years old. For a year or so I read on it a ton using the Kindle app (because the iBooks apps sucks), but I slowly started getting back to actual books. This wasn't entirely purposeful, just mainly out of habit. Reading on the iPad hurts my sensitive eyes, especially when doing it in the dark with the bright screen. And, like its competitors have pointed out over and over, it's impossible to do outside.
So then for awhile I only downloaded things on the iPad to read that I wouldn't be sad if didn't have in hard copy. "How To" type books, etc. And that's where we are today.
But I've recently been around two friends who are reading on Kindles. One had a Kindle Fire HD, and it was so impressive. She had apps, she had books, she had internet. If I didn't already have an iPad, a Kindle Fire HD would be a for sure purchase, especially at that price point.
And then last week I was with a friend who had a Kindle Paperwhite. I was seduced. It's the perfect size to toss in a purse, has a crazy long battery life (8 weeks!!), and is reasonably priced. I'm about a half second away from ordering one.
But I thought I'd check with you, readers, since you're pretty much my best resource for anything. Do you read real books? Do you use some sort of an e-reader? Which kind and what do you love/hate about it?

And then random but somewhat related:
While in Palms Springs, one of the girls had a little JAWBONE bluetooth speaker. That thing put out so much sound! We played music through our iphones and it's tiny and goes anywhere. We had it outside on the deck, for dance party in the living room. This would make a great gift for a man in your life.
Then yesterday at the Q conference, I was tweeting so much that my phone ran out of battery. My friend Roxy busted out this little wireless charger from iGo Green right out of her purse. How handy!
The Gorilla tells me both of these things have been around for awhile. But if I didn't know, maybe you didnt?

UPDATE: I made a decision on a new e-reader. I'm currently testing it out and then I'll report back.
