I know August isn't quite over yet, but I've missed you like crazy. My August blogging break has been very good for me, and I'm full of direction and inspiration for the blog (and my life) to finish out the year. I couldn't resist posting this quickie dish in case you were (like me) floudering around a bit on what to serve over the long weekend.
In August, I took my time. We moved slower, had less on the agenda. Our weekends took on a particular rhythm. We had friends over almost every Saturday and we would swim and eat, and even though I was technically hosting people, it didn't feel like it. There was no rush, nowhere we were coming from or had to be later.
Plus I discovered the grill. In all my 34 years, I've never used an outdoor grill. I've prepped food for the grill. I've pulled food off of a grill when someone else told me it was ready. But, truth be told, I was intimidated by the open flame. (Let's not look too deeply into this, okay?) There was always some big, strong male around willing to man the grill. And I always let him. Then one day I decided I really, really wanted "burgers with lines" (grill lines, people!) and so I braved the Weber.
I will never again not grill. The grill has changed my summer cooking. I have been grilling like some sort of a maniac. I grill everything. I feel like a genius. No matter that it is so easy, it's practically cheating. I am giddy about the grill as if I invented the method.
